Genre: Black Metal / Post Metal Music: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3SzTaaNgwUukUhQZVKMKFK?si=w_T3SewDTiWFMB4bXMmYpQ
WOODS OF DESOLATION was formed by multi-instrumentalist D. in 2005 as a means for personal expression through music. Firmly built upon this ethos, a series of demo recordings garnered a solid following within underground black metal circles worldwide. Continually evolving and working with different guest musicians, D. began to showcase his talent for crafting melancholic, yet at times uplifting, melodies on the debut album Toward The Depths (2008), further refining it on the Sorh EP (2009) and the influential sophomore full-length Torn Beyond Reason (2011). In 2014, Woods of Desolation released the critically acclaimed third full-length As The Stars. This album saw D. further introduce a wider array of musical influences, such as post rock and shoegaze, into his unique take on black metal, becoming one of the main protagonists in what would become the burgeoning genre of post black metal. Additionally, lyrical themes were expanded beyond what had come before – nature, life, sorrow – now personally exploring the metaphysical aspects of spirituality and the afterlife. In the years that followed, D. created two new black metal projects REMETE & UNFELLED, simultaneously writing material for the next Woods of Desolation full-length. In 2021, the long-awaited follow up to As The Stars was recorded, and is slated for release via Season of Mist.
3. Thousand Below - Hell Finds You Everywhere (San Diego, California)
Genre: Post-Hardcore Music: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0iU3WDujScAofxcK2EMypN?si=CTAsllHrRQeaHWKp3d3UOg
Thousand Below’s vulnerable, ambient, yet ultimately hopeful self-examination of loss, life and healing is an enduring theme resonating in the band’s signature sound. The range within their genre is an homage to the band’s intimate experience through the stages of grief. The American quartet-- James DeBerg [vocals], Josh Thomas [guitar], Josh Billimoria [Bass], and Max Santoro [drums]-- descend into the visceral anger and raw anguish echoing throughout their lyrically-jarring debut album The Love You Let Too Close, followed by the somber instrumentation of an ultimately quieter emotional discourse in their sophomore album Gone In Your Wake. Their newest album, Hell Finds You Everywhere, persists as a reflective introspection to the narrative of their second album, and demonstrates a maturity of sound.

Genre: Hardcore Music: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6dOCTX1ATvti0d4uaxwlO3?si=QjiE58-iQO6zfc2sqpkTxg
Oakland, California’s reigning kings of heavy hardcore first stormed onto the scene in 2007 with their debut album: The Will To Survive. Lionheart came out swinging with a full blown assault of blistering metallic hardcore. They quickly followed it up with 2010’s ‚Built On Struggle‘, 2012’s ‚ Undisputed‘ and years of nonstop touring. Following a short break after the release of Undisputed, the band came back stronger than ever with 2014’s ‚Welcome To The Westcoast‘. The album debuted at #1 on both iTunes metal and GooglePlay metal charts. Lionheart stormed onto the scene again in January 2016 with ‚Love Don’t Live Here‘. The album title, a nod to a classic R&B/ Motown song by the same name, shows the bands unwillingness to conform to the typical "hardcore mold“, as well as the bitter and unforgiving lyrical content the band is known for. November 2017 saw Lionheart unleash “Welcome To The West Coast II”. A sequel to “Welcome To The West Coast” (2014), the album brought forth a new era in California Hardcore, and saw them again debut at #1 across the iTunes Metal charts and Google Play metal charts.

Genre: Death Metal Music: https://open.spotify.com/artist/35K8lKEhCSzSuoPjbe2TjA?si=0Gq5qrw7T6KvjdJOYcqPtA
"Ready For Death is a new thrash band featuring Artie White (Indecision, Milhouse, Concrete Cross), Dallas Thomas (Pelican, Asschapel, Swan King), Dan Binaei (Racetraitor, Haggathorn), Shawn “The Beast” Brewer (Haggathorn), and Luca Cimarusti (Luggage, Annihilus). The band came together after a chance encounter between Artie and Dallas, who met while taking their kids to taekwondo class, unaware of each other's musical histories until one day when their kids were having a playdate and Dallas dug through Artie's record collection. "Swans... Bolt Thrower... Napalm Death... Neurosis...wait...this guy isn't a normal dad!" The band name also came from Dallas' five-year old daughter, who one day busted the door open to his basement studio with a toy sword and yelled "READY FOR DEATH!" before attacking her dad." - Andrew Sacher @ Brookyln Vegan
